Around and About
Sep. 3rd, 2011 12:29 pmI've finished my work period with Statistics Canada 2 weeks ago, feels weird not asking people personal questions and getting paid for it :). I was doing census work, followed by doing what is now called the National Household Survey , which used to be the mandatory Long Form Census.
Right now I am in St John's, Newfoundland, visiting at my brother's house. Except he's still at work off Greenland , and my sister-in-law went off to New York City with 9 of her friends to celebrate her 40th birthday for a week! That leaves me and my parents to babysit Maggie, my 3 and 3/4 year old niece. She can be a handful sometimes, but is full of joy and wonder that makes up for it.
Been looking at a few trucks with my father, he wants to upgrade from the F250 Superduty diesel that he has to a newer version (2003-2008 model year). Very hard beast to find, only 8 at all the Ford dealerships in all the Atlantic Provinces (Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island)
It's been over a year since I had my Lasik surgery done, and can't say enough good things about it. Being able to wake up and not fumble for glasses, or stumble to the bathroom to put in contacts is worth the money. The only downside I've found is that my eyesight is a bit off at twilight, but once it's fully dark I can see perfectly again. This may be to old age (45!!! in 3 weeks) instead of the surgery, as is my lack of being able to read extra-fine print. But, thats what the optometrist said before surgery anyways.
Wow, doing a lot of typing today.
Amy: hope your surgery goes well and you recover quickly. Kick that cancer in the ass, and twice more on it's way out the door!
Gneech: Have fun at Dragon-con, don't let the ponies eat you :)
Sue Rankin: I know you're out there somewhere, don't make me come looking for you! I miss the many posts you used to do. Need someone to live vicariously through on the Wrong Coast ;)
HossBlack: Heya to someone who actually responded to a few of my ramblings :)
Everyone else who actually reads this.... who are you and why is the rum gone?
Hmm, I really need to add some userpics or avatars.
