Just had one of those wonderful mediacl tests done. This one was called the Pulmonary Function test, and it's to see how well you can breathe while you bite on a snorkel and have your nose pinched. Not too comfortable, as you can see by the size of the schnozz in the picture :)

Got this done because way back when, in the 90's, I worked on a boat which they recently found asbestos in. The "good" asbestos, they say, but still. The insulation had become worn over time, and was free-floating throughout the ship. Normally, if you're in an asbestos environment, it isnt permamnent. But, being on a boat, you're there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For 2-4 weeks at a time. Grreat exposure lengths. And this one is only from ONE boat, the others I worked on have been long sold and scrapped or re-furbished. So no telling how much I got from those places. Just imagine a rough night at sea, then waking up covered in a fine dust that you've been breathing in straight for 8 hours.

Oh yeah, x-rays too. But since my doc is on vacation, wont know results until he gets back, the 18th.

Happier news....

Might be flying again soon, as a CFII (Certified Flight Instructor 1) if my interview comes up good. A local Flight Institute is starting here, and looking for zero-time or low-time pilots, who they can train to become instructors, and stay on with them for some time. Sounds good to me! They will be using DA-20s DA-40's and DA-42's (Diamond Aircraft 2 seater, 4 seater, 4 seater 2 engine) then might be moving into King Air C-90's (9 passenger/2 pilot cargo haulers)

And all this in the last week!

Sounds sweet, makes me wish I could find a place that'd let me finish up getting my license then get me instructor qualified with a job.

How far along are you in your flight training? You might just approach your school and ask them. Worse thing they can say is no. Or yes :)
